In 1946, Stephen Zangrillo set the Darien Sport Shop in motion with a single room store, determination and hard work.  He created it with the intention of providing quality goods and highly personalized service, which set the foundation for the store’s excellent reputation for valuing each customer.  Sixty-five years later, his legacy lives on  - only much bigger and with a greater variety of products.  In a world where transactions are impersonal and time is of the essence, the Darien Sport Shop is a breath of fresh air. It is one of those rare havens that makes customers feel welcome the minute they walk through the door.

Situated in the heart of Darien, the Shop is still family owned with Mr. Z’s daughter Gina Zangrillo at the helm. It has grown exponentially over the years to offer not only sports apparel and equipment, but also clothes, shoes and accessories for men, women, and children, and a substantial gift department.
